The Shohradov sisters dominate the Turkmenistan Youth Chess Championship

Lala and Leila Shohradov confirmed their leadership in women's chess in Turkmenistan by winning gold medals at the national championship for boys and girls under 20, which was held in Ashgabat from January 10 to 12. 19-year-old Lala became the champion in classical chess and rapid, and her 18-year-old sister Leila won the blitz.

According to the press service of the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan, Vepaly Halynyazov, a student of the Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering, distinguished himself in the men's tournament, winning gold in both classical and rapid chess. The blitz tournament ended with a convincing victory for former world champion among boys under 8 years old Shageldy Kurbandurdyev, who showed a 100% result.

Young chess players from Lebap velayat, 15-year-old Jahan Rejepova and Mahri Agamuradova, also performed successfully at the tournament, winning silver and bronze medals in rapid and blitz tournaments.

The competition, which brought together more than 100 participants, was held at the Specialized Chess and Checkers School in Ashgabat. The winners received medals and prizes from the tournament sponsors, including the insurance company Resmi Kepil, the Küşt Älemi chess academy, the Globus stationery store and other organizations.
