At a general employee meeting in Stuttgart, Porsche management and the company's works council announced the potential reduction of up to 5 thousand jobs in the coming years, according to Bild.

Previously, in 2025, there was talk of reducing the workforce by 3,9 thousand positions, as well as eliminating about 500 vacancies in the company's subsidiaries.

At the same time, Porsche is extending the employment and capacity guarantee for its main plant in Stuttgart until the end of 2035, eliminating forced layoffs. Workforce reductions are planned through natural attrition, partial retirement programs, and voluntary severance agreements with compensation.

At the same time, the company will partially freeze wage rate indexation until 2035 and reduce the size of Christmas bonuses. Annual bonus payments will be more tightly tied to the company's financial performance. Management will also forego significant increases to base salaries for employees in 2027 and 2028.

Furthermore, Porsche is tightening its remote work policy: employees will be able to work from home for no more than eight days per month, up from the previous 12. In exchange, the company has committed to investing 2,1 billion euros in the development of its German operations.

Since 2015, Porsche's workforce has grown by 75% to nearly 42 thousand people. However, against the backdrop of a decline in sales - from 320 thousand cars three years ago to a projected 250 thousand by the end of 2026 - the workload of the company's factories decreased significantly, which became the reason for measures to optimize the staff.
