Today, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh Malwajerd, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan, adhering to its neutral status, three times recognized by the UN General Assembly, closely cooperates with countries around the world and reputable international organizations. Friendly, mutually respectful, and trusting interactions are characteristic of its relations with neighboring countries.

The good relations between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran are based on common historical and cultural values that have deep roots.

Today, interstate dialogue is developing bilaterally and within international organizations, based on the principles of mutual respect and understanding. Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran maintain constructive cooperation within the UN and other international organizations.

Trade and economic ties are an important component of the interstate relations agenda. Iran occupies a leading position in Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover.

Effective and mutually beneficial partnerships are developing in the fuel and energy, transport and communications, construction, and agriculture sectors. Contacts between representatives of the private sector are also intensifying.

During the conversation, the key role of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in expanding Turkmen-Iranian cooperation was emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the further development and strengthening of constructive interstate relations in the interests of the friendly peoples of the two countries and exchanged best wishes, the source noted.
