Turkmenistan retains its position in the new FIFA rankings

The Turkmenistan national football team retained its position in the updated Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) rankings, published following the 2026 World Cup, which was held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The team remained in 141st place out of 211 teams, with 1078,65 points.

Central Asian region

Uzbekistan remains the region's strongest team, although it has dropped 10 spots to 60th place. Tajikistan (101st), Kyrgyzstan (106th), Kazakhstan (111th), and Turkmenistan (141st) are next in the regional standings.

Asian Position

Turkmenistan ranks 27th among Asian national teams. Japan (17th in the world rankings), Iran (22nd), and Australia (28th) remain the leaders in Asian football. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) top ten also includes South Korea (32nd), Saudi Arabia (58th), Qatar (59th), Iraq (63rd), the UAE (68th), and Jordan (73rd).

The Spanish national team has become the new leader of the FIFA world rankings: their victory at the World Cup allowed the Spaniards to rise from second to first place.
