Direct air service between Armenia and Turkmenistan would be crucial for the further development of bilateral ties, Armenian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Arsen Avagyan stated in an interview with the online publication Turkmenportal.

“Direct air service between Armenia and Turkmenistan would certainly be of great importance for the further development of bilateral relations. Moreover, our countries already had experience operating direct flights, and the current legal framework in the air transport sector creates the necessary preconditions for expanding cooperation in this area,” he said.

According to the diplomat, given the intensification of trade and economic contacts, the development of educational, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation, and the growing interest in business and tourist travel, the resumption of direct air travel could provide additional impetus to the development of relations between the two countries.

Avagyan noted that the economic feasibility of scheduled flights depends on a number of factors, including passenger traffic and the commercial calculations of air carriers.

“At the same time, we are convinced that as bilateral cooperation continues to expand, the objective preconditions for restoring direct air traffic will strengthen,” the ambassador emphasized.
