The Russian Embassy donated 20 birdhouses to a school in Ashgabat

Alexander Vasiliev, Minister-Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan, presented 20 climate-resistant birdhouses to School No. 55 in Ashgabat during the school's ceremonial assembly marking the school's last bell. The design was developed by seventh-grader Ovezmurad Sapargeldyev, according to the press service of the Russian diplomatic mission.

The student's initiative was implemented within the framework of the UNDP regional program "Climate Education for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals and Climate Action" ("Climate Box"), implemented with the support of the Russian Federation.

Observing the decline of sparrow populations in urban areas, Ovezmurad designed a birdhouse that could withstand high temperatures and provide safe nesting conditions for the birds.

Russian Ambassador Ivan Volynkin delivered a welcoming address at the event. He stated that the Russian Federation continues to support promising initiatives in environmental education, the climate agenda, and sustainable development, and highly values its cooperation with Turkmenistan and its educational institutions.
