The Balkan velayat plans to reap a bountiful harvest of vegetables and melons. Farmers in the region plan to harvest 52 400 tons of melons from 2 620 hectares of melon fields, and 40 600 tons of potatoes from 2 900 hectares, according to "Turkmenistan: Golden Age."

By the end of the spring season, tenants in the western region will increase the onion harvest volume, planted on a total of 1 100 hectares, to 27 500 tons.

The cabbage and carrot sowing season in the velayat has already been completed ahead of schedule, and crop care is currently underway at a rapid pace. The high quality of the work performed indicates that this important campaign will be a success.

During the upcoming harvest, the 230 hectares of sown cabbage will yield 5 750 tons of edible cabbage, while 470 hectares of carrots will yield 8 460 tons of produce.

This year, the harvest of tomatoes and cucumbers is also planned at 16 250 tons.
