The Uzbekistan national football team will play a friendly match against the Netherlands on June 8 at Icahn Stadium in New York City, according to the press service of the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA).
The match will be held as part of Uzbekistan's preparations for the World Cup, which will take place from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Uzbekistan is in group K, where it will face Portugal, Colombia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The team is coached by World Champion and 2006 Ballon d'Or winner Fabio Cannavaro of Italy.
In addition, an Uzbek refereeing team will be involved in the World Cup. Ilgiz Tantashev will serve as the main referee, with Andrei Tsapenko and Timur Gainullin as his assistants.
