The FIFA Council approved Armenia and Georgia as joint hosts of the 2029 FIFA U-20 World Cup. The decision was made at a meeting in Vancouver, Canada, RIA Novosti reports.
This will be the first tournament of this magnitude in Armenia's history. The Armenian Football Federation views this decision as a sign of trust from the international football community and notes that hosting the World Cup will create additional incentives for the development of youth football in the country.
The previous World Youth Championship in the same region will be held in 2027, hosted by Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
