The Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN in Geneva held an international event entitled The International Dimension of Neutrality, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of the status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, as well as the International Year of Peace and Trust declared in the country.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, over 300 people took part in the event, including heads of diplomatic missions, leaders and representatives of international organizations, non-governmental organizations, business circles, the scientific community, the media and youth.
The Executive Director of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, Ambassador Thomas Greminger, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He noted the significant contribution of Turkmenistan to the development of a culture of peace and interstate dialogue.
The main reports were delivered by the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva Vepa Hajiyev and the Director of the Center for Strategic Studies of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Shiri Shiriev.
In the panel discussion, participants presented their vision of neutrality, emphasizing the versatility and relevance of this concept in modern international conditions.
Within the framework of the event, negotiations were held between the delegation of Turkmenistan and Ambassador Thomas Greminger, during which prospects for cooperation in the field of diplomacy, sustainable peace and neutrality policy were discussed, the source notes.
