The China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) drilled the Shendi Take-1 well to a depth of over 10,9 thousand meters, TASS reports.
The well is reported to be one of the deepest in Asia and is located in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, in the Taklamakan Desert, located in the Tarim Basin in northwest China.
Drilling operations, which began at the end of May 2023, have reached geological layers that are more than 500 million years old.
