Representatives of the Türkmen logistika Association took part in a regional training on digitalization of trade procedures in Tashkent, the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper reports.
The three-day training “Fundamentals of Digital Trade Facilitation and Standards for Studying the Fundamentals of Digital UN/CEFACT” brought together government officials, customs officers and logisticians from five Central Asian countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The initiative is being implemented with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) within the framework of the project “Trade Facilitation in Central Asia”. The program is aimed at implementing international UN/CEFACT standards for the smooth and paperless transportation of goods across borders.
As noted, UN/CEFACT standards simplify trade by unifying data formats, code lists and business processes. Their implementation in Central Asia will increase the region’s trade connectivity and ensure efficient cross-border transactions.
The training participants developed pilot projects for digital trade facilitation in their countries. By December 2025, these projects will be presented at the next training, and by 2027, the participating countries plan to fully implement digital transport systems, including electronic customs transit (eTIR) and digital road consignment notes (eCMR).
As noted by the Deputy Chairman of the Association "Türkmen logistika" Sapa Gurbanberdiyev, the introduction of the digital format in the transport and logistics sector strengthens Turkmenistan's position in the transport connectivity of the region. The online mode allows tracking the logistics chain from the moment of loading to delivery to the destination.
