U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan Elizabeth Rood believes that the best way to view diplomacy is as the art of advancing national interests through human connections, trust, and a constant desire to understand others.
On the sidelines of a conference and exhibition in honor of Turkmenistan's Diplomatic Workers' Day, she said that the United States will always support Turkmenistan's policy of positive neutrality, the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper reported.
In particular, the ambassador said:
“I would like to express on behalf of the United States of America our continued support for Turkmenistan’s policy of positive neutrality, which enables it to play a unique and constructive role in international diplomacy.”
Elizabeth Rud also praised the work of the employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan:
"I would like to express my gratitude to all the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan for their constant efforts to unite us at events such as this. I am sincerely grateful for the consolidation of the entire diplomatic corps, distinguished by its inherent cohesion."
May the International Year of Peace and Trust bring progress in resolving conflicts around the world, and may we succeed in our diplomatic efforts to achieve them, the US Ambassador concluded.
