1. The International Forum to attract foreign investment in the energy sector of Turkmenistan will begin its work today in Paris. This prestigious forum is organized by the State Concerns “Turkmengas” and “Turkmennebit” in partnership with the “Turkmen Forum” and the British company GaffneyCline. Turkmenportal is the official media partner of the forum. The delegation of Turkmenistan led by Deputy Prime Minister Batyr Amanov arrived in the capital of France on the eve of the start of the forum, on April 23. Members of the government delegation visited the SUEZ water treatment facility, then went to the famous Palace of Versailles, the International Methane Observatory and the exhibition “Magtymguly Fragi and the Cultural Heritage of Turkmenistan”, organized in honor of the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet. In the evening a tour of Paris was organized.

2. Starting from May 18, the Chinese airline China Southern Airlines will introduce an additional weekly flight on the route Urumqi - Ashgabat - Urumqi.

3. In the first quarter of 2024, China imported 2,4 billion USD worth of Turkmen natural gas. According to Chinese customs data, Australia, Qatar, and Malaysia were also among the leading gas exporters to China. Currently, Turkmen gas is exported to the People's Republic of China via three lines of the gas pipeline, which passes through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

4. Pakistan expects to receive final approval to begin construction work on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline by the end of the second quarter of 2024. The need to implement TAPI is dictated by Pakistan’s growing needs for gas imports against the backdrop of demand exceeding domestic production volumes. According to the plan, the TAPI gas pipeline will annually transport 33 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas from the “Galkynysh” field.

5. Within the framework of the visit to Turkmenistan of the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, Lord Cameron, a signing ceremony of a number of bilateral documents took place in the Foreign Ministry building. At the event, the parties signed the Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for 2024-2025. In addition, Memoranda of Understanding and Cooperation on issues of environmental protection and biodiversity of the Caspian Sea were signed between the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the British Blue Marine Foundation, as well as in the field of transport communications between the “Turkmensvyaz” Agency and Dialogue Events Ltd.

6. At the UNESCO headquarters in the capital of France, the grand opening of the exhibition “Magtymguly Fragi and the cultural heritage of Turkmenistan” was held, organized by the Permanent Representation of Turkmenistan to UNESCO together with the Embassy of Turkmenistan in France and the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan. At the same time, a scientific conference was held dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Turkmen-French archaeological expedition. A striking addition to the busy program of the day was the exclusive display of the original collection of national Turkmen costumes.

7. The city hall of Milan wants to limit the night trade of street food in order to calm down noisy celebrations and ensure the sleep of city residents. The bill proposed by the city would ban the sale of takeout food, including pizza, ice cream and drinks, after midnight. The restrictions are planned to be introduced from May to November. The ban will include not only street food stalls, but also the summer terraces of cafes and restaurants. The sale of food and drinks there will be prohibited after 00:30 on weekdays and after 01:30 on weekends and holidays.

8. 39 biologists and philosophers from around the world have come together to sign a declaration that recognizes consciousness in animals. The declaration, published by New York University, covers not only mammals and birds, but also reptiles, amphibians, fish, and many invertebrates, including insects, crabs, lobsters, squid, octopuses and cuttlefish. The scientists behind this claim rely on overwhelming scientific evidence showing conscious experience in these animals.

9. The second round of the Turkmenistan Major Football League has started. On April 23, the first match of the 10th round took place, in which “Merv” and “Nebitchi” clashed. The home team won a minimal victory thanks to a goal from Guvanch Berdimuradov in the 84th minute of the match. Today three more games of the 10th round will be held: “Kopetdag” will host “Ashgabat”, “Shagadam” will play with “Altyn Asyr”, and “Energetik” will meet with “Ahal”. After nine rounds played, the championship leader is “Arkadag” with 24 points. “Altyn Asyr” (18 points) and “Ahal” (15 points) are also in the leading group.

10. “Roma” forward Serdar Azmoun ended his goal drought by scoring in the match against “Bologna” in the 33rd round of Serie A. Azmoun scored in the 56th minute of the match, reducing his team's gap. As a result, the match ended with a score of 1-3 in favor of “Bologna”. This is the Iranian's first goal at club level in more than two months. The last time he scored was on February 18 in a match against “Frosinone” (3:0).
