American researchers from Columbia University conducted a study and concluded that anger may be a risk factor for the development of cardiovascular diseases. This was reported by runews24.ru with reference to JAHA.

The experiment involved 280 people who were divided into groups. Participants from different groups were asked to feel different emotions: anger, fear, sadness or remain calm.

The results showed that already 8 minutes after an outburst of anger, endothelial function, i.e. the inner lining of the blood vessels deteriorated. The endothelium plays an important role in regulating blood flow and other functions. Its disruption can lead to the development of atherosclerosis, which, in turn, increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Scientists also noted that short-term outbursts of anger can negatively affect vascular function for up to 40 minutes.
