The AFC has postponed the draw for the 2027 Asian Cup finals

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has postponed the draw for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup finals, the confederation's press service announced.

The event was scheduled to take place in Riyadh on April 11. The AFC statement stated that the decision was made to ensure the participation of all interested parties. A new date for the draw has not yet been set.

Earlier, due to the situation in the Middle East, the AFC postponed a number of Asian Champions League matches, the Qatar Championship was suspended, and the Finalissima match between the Argentina and Spain national teams, scheduled for Qatar, was cancelled.

The final stage of the Asian Cup will be held in Saudi Arabia from January 7 to February 5, 2027.

It's worth noting that the Turkmenistan national team continues to compete for a spot in the 2027 Asian Cup. In the final round of the group stage, Rovshan Meredov's team will face Thailand on March 31 at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok. Kickoff is at 17:30 Ashgabat time.

After five rounds, the Turkmen football team leads Group D with 12 points. Thailand has the same number of points, but trails Turkmenistan on additional factors, including their head-to-head record – Turkmenistan won 3-1 in Ashgabat in June 2025.

Sri Lanka is third in the group with 6 points, while Chinese Taipei has no points. The group winner will qualify directly for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia.
