Turkmenistan and the International Labor Organization discussed ways to enhance cooperation

Today, the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, held a meeting with Mr. Pieter van Roy, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia of the International Labour Organization.

During the meeting, ways to further enhance Turkmenistan's cooperation with the United Nations and its agencies, as well as with the International Labour Organization on a multilateral basis, were discussed, according to the Mejlis website.

An exchange of views took place on the positive results of the work carried out within the framework of the Roadmap for Cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the ILO for 2024-2025, as well as on the tasks ahead in 2026.

The Turkmen side described ongoing work to modernize labor legislation, human rights laws, and legislation on the social protection of children and the population by incorporating accumulated experience and generally recognized international norms into the country's national legislative system.

Peter van Rooy praised the results of the work carried out in Turkmenistan and expressed confidence in close cooperation in the near future.
