A Malaysian man has made it into the Guinness World Records for having the largest number of teeth

Pratab Muniyandi, a 33-year-old Malaysian engineer, has been officially entered into the Guinness World Records as the man with the most teeth. An examination by two dentists confirmed that he has 42 erupted teeth, as well as two that have not yet erupted.

Most adults have 32 teeth, meaning Muniyandi has ten more than the norm. He says he first noticed this unusual feature in 2021 during a family tea party, when he mentioned the extra teeth to his relatives. A count revealed 38. An X-ray revealed four more teeth that had not yet erupted, and by early 2023, the total had reached 42.

Despite his abnormal number of teeth, the oil and gas engineer and father of one leads a fairly normal life. Most people don't notice anything unusual about his smile until he points it out. Muniyandi notes that the extra teeth don't bother him and have grown in smoothly, without complications.

A similar record for women belongs to Kalpana Balan of India, who has 38 teeth.
