Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is participating in an informal summit of the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which is taking place in the St. George Hall of the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, the Kremlin website reports.
The meeting is attended by the heads of state of the CIS member states. Russian President Vladimir Putin opened the meeting.
The summit will discuss the further development of cooperation within the Commonwealth. Participants note that the CIS has established itself as a respected organization on the international stage.
State leaders emphasize their commitment to the formation of a new multipolar world order under the coordinating role of the United Nations. Commonwealth countries express their intention to work together to strengthen stability and shared security.
The summit noted that expanding partnership within the CIS is in the fundamental interests of the Commonwealth states. Participants emphasized the importance of cooperation in preserving a common cultural and humanitarian space.
It was noted that the share of national currencies in transactions between CIS countries exceeds 96 percent, demonstrating deepening economic integration.
