A meeting took place today in Ashgabat between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Secretary General of the CIS, Sergey Lebedev, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the 111th meeting of the CIS Economic Council.

The parties paid special attention to the practical implementation of the priorities of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the Commonwealth and preparations for upcoming high-level and top-level events, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

Preparations for the meetings of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers and the Council of Heads of State—scheduled for October 7 and 9 in the “Avaza” National Tourist Zone—were addressed separately; organizational aspects and agenda items were discussed.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a shared interest in continuing constructive interaction and joint work was reaffirmed.
