Turkmenistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vepa Hajiyev, met with International Tennis Federation (ITF) President David Haggerty in New York. Also attending was Turkmenistan Tennis Federation Chairman Eziz Dovletov.

As noted in a press release from the Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN, during the meeting, the parties discussed further strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the ITF, including the preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding and a roadmap for joint action, as well as expanding exchanges between sports organizations of the two countries.

Particular attention was paid to the possibility of holding junior tennis tournaments under the auspices of the ITF in Turkmenistan starting in 2027.

The meeting participants also touched on Turkmenistan's contribution to the development of sports diplomacy at the UN level, particularly through the United Nations Games, and confirmed their mutual interest in the further development of tennis and international sports partnerships.
