The Turkmenistan U17 national team will play against Yemen, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and the Northern Mariana Islands in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifying tournament. The draw results were announced on Thursday at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The qualifying stage of the tournament will be held from November 8 to 20, 2026, using a centralized system. Thirty-five teams will participate in the selection, divided into seven groups of five teams each.
Turkmenistan, along with its group opponents, entered group “F” – all matches of the qualifying round will be held in a single round in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan).
The winners of all seven groups will advance to the final stage of the tournament, joining nine teams that have already qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar: Australia, China, Japan (the defending champions), the Republic of Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
The final part of the Asian Cup U17 will be held in Uzbekistan from May 12 to 29, 2027.
The Turkmenistan U17 national team is being prepared for the qualifying tournament by a coaching staff led by Azat Muhadov. Under his guidance, the junior team finished fourth among five teams at the 2026 Central Asian Football Association Championship (CAFA) in Uzbekistan.
