Cyclists from Turkmenistan and the UAE completed a joint training camp in Ashgabat

Athletes from the Turkmenistan National Cycling Team and the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club (UAE) completed a two-week joint training camp in Ashgabat, according to the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.

Over two weeks of intensive work, athletes from both countries covered hundreds of kilometers along trails of varying difficulty, practicing their physical fitness and team tactics ahead of upcoming international competitions. The training process took place at the modern “Velotrek” sports complex in the Olympic Village, as well as on the highways in the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains.

In addition to the races, a comprehensive educational program was organized for the camp participants: specialized classes on the cycling track, educational seminars, and medical examinations. This allowed the athletes to thoroughly practice tactics for navigating difficult sections of the course and maintain optimal physical fitness throughout the entire training cycle.

According to the organizers, the Turkmen cyclists demonstrated a high level of training and were on par with the UAE athletes in skill, confidently completing the distances on par with their foreign partners.

The UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Ahmed Al Hameli, commented on the results of the training camp. He stated that cycling serves as a bridge of friendship and cooperation between countries, and joint projects contribute not only to the professional growth of athletes but also to the strengthening of bilateral relations. The ambassador stated that the parties intend to make such training sessions an annual tradition and expressed gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan for supporting the development of cycling in the country.

As the diplomat noted, future plans include joint cycling marathons, an exchange of experience between the coaching staffs of the two countries, and the launch of support programs for young athletes.

Following the training camp, the Turkmen team will travel to Thailand to participate in the Asian Track Cycling Cup from August 28 to 30. The national team's main start of the season will be the XX Summer Asian Games, which will be held from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, Japan.
