Young representatives of Turkmenistan’s scientific community are participating in the 13th International Archaeological School, which began yesterday at the Bolgar Museum-Reserve (Republic of Tatarstan).

According to densus.ru, 75 young researchers from 24 Russian regions and five foreign countries—Azerbaijan, Belarus, India, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan—are participating in the School.

In 2026, the school focuses on digital technologies in archaeology. The program includes lectures and workshops on geographic information systems (GIS), 3D modeling, geophysics, remote sensing, field surveying, and the operation of unmanned aerial systems. Participants gain skills in aerial surveying, data processing using neural networks, and the creation of digital 3D models of archaeological sites.

Instruction is provided by leading specialists from the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University, Ural Federal University, the NTI Foundation, Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering, and the A. Kh. Khalikov Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The School will conclude on August 22 with the international youth research and practice conference "Interdisciplinary Research in Archaeology: Achievements and Challenges," where participants will present papers on their research.
