The Turkmen side held official talks with representatives of Afghanistan on the occasion of the entry into the final stage of construction work on the Serhetabat-Herat section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, which is being implemented within the framework of the “Arkadagyň ak ýoly” initiative.

According to the newspaper "Türkmenistan", 123 kilometers of pipeline have already been laid at the current stage of construction, with more than 30 kilometers still under construction. Shatlyk Muradov, Head of the 5th Specialized Installation Department of the “Turkmengundogarnebitgurlushyk” Trust, reported that the completed sections are undergoing tests using a water-filling method without interrupting work. Over 120 workers and specialists are working to bring Turkmen gas to the city of Herat.

The TAPI project involves not only the supply of natural gas, but also the development of transport and communications infrastructure, the improvement of social and living conditions in the region, and the attraction of significant investment in neighboring countries.
