The President of Turkmenistan arrived in Georgia on his first state visit

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Georgia for a two-day state visit, according to the online newspaper "Turkmenistan."

At Tbilisi's Shota Rustaveli International Airport, the national flags of Turkmenistan and Georgia were raised and a guard of honor was formed for the visit. The head of state was greeted by Georgian officials and members of the Turkmen delegation.

According to the visit's itinerary, the President of Turkmenistan will hold talks with Georgian leaders in both narrow and expanded formats. A Turkmen-Georgian business forum and an exhibition of products manufactured in Turkmenistan are also planned.

Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Georgia were established on July 16, 1992. Agreements reached at the highest level in recent years have laid the foundation for taking bilateral relations to a new level. The first state visit of the Turkmen head of state to Georgia is viewed by both parties as a continuation of political dialogue and a new stage in the history of bilateral relations, the publication notes.
