Turkmen weightlifter Atabek Azamatov won the silver medal at the Youth World Weightlifting Championships currently taking place in the Colombian city of Cali.

In the under-60 kg weight category, the athlete lifted 116 kg in the snatch and 133 kg in the clean and jerk, achieving a total of 249 kg. Additionally, Azamatov won a small gold medal for his victory in the snatch.

The champion in this weight category was the Mexican Victor Mendez, with a result of 108 kg in the snatch, 142 kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 250 kg. The bronze medal went to the Russian Evgeny Butuzov, who recorded 111 kg in the snatch, 138 kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 249 kg.

Another representative of Turkmenistan, Kerem Gurbandurdyyev, also competed in this weight category. He lifted 107 kg in the snatch and 130 kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 237 kg, securing seventh place overall.

The Youth World Weightlifting Championships in Cali will conclude on July 11.
