During talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the potential for Turkmen electricity supplies to Azerbaijan, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

"At the same time, Turkmenistan's readiness for partnership in the electric power sector was confirmed. In this context, the parties discussed the potential for electricity supplies from our country to Azerbaijan, as well as the new 1574-megawatt power plant currently under construction on the Caspian Sea coast," the statement said.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov named the transport and transit sector, the oil and gas and chemical industries, and the textile industry among other priority areas of bilateral cooperation. The President proposed intensifying the work of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Transport, Transit, and Logistics, as well as the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

The parties also discussed the development of the Caspian Sea–Black Sea transport corridor along the Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan–Georgia–Romania route. According to the head of state, connecting the two regions opens up opportunities for expanding economic, trade, and investment cooperation.

In addition, Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed holding a high-level meeting of the Caspian littoral states in October 2026 in the “Awaza” National Tourist Zone.

In the humanitarian sphere, Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of regularly holding cross Culture Days, exhibitions and festivals. In particular, the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan were held in Baku and Ganja in October last year, and the Days of Culture of Azerbaijan in Ashgabat and Arkadag in June of this year. The President particularly highlighted the construction of a mosque in the Azerbaijani city of Fuzuli, which, according to him, will become a symbol of friendship and brotherhood of the two peoples.

Speaking about international cooperation, the President of Turkmenistan thanked Baku for its support of Ashgabat's neutral foreign policy. In turn, Turkmenistan supports Azerbaijan's international initiatives, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized.
