Sixteen Turkmen judokas will compete in the Grand Slam tournament in Mongolia

Sixteen Turkmen judokas will compete in the Grand Slam tournament in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, which will take place from June 19 to 21. This was announced on the official website of the International Judo Federation (IJF).

The delegation includes 2024 Paris Olympic Games participants Serdar Rakhimov (up to 66 kg) and Maysa Pardayeva (up to 57 kg). A total of 455 athletes from 59 countries will participate in the competition.

In addition to Rahimov, the men's team of Turkmenistan will be represented by Mekan Ramazanov and Ural Bahtiyarov (up to 60 kg), Meylis Shamuradov and Ulaman Amansahedov (up to 73 kg), Agajan Ayhanov and Batyr Merdanov (up to 81 kg), Omuruzak Khalmuminov (up to 90 kg), Baymyrat Majanov and Deniz Karatayev (up to 100 kg).

The women's team will include Ejegyz Geldyeva (up to 48 kg), Narjemal Omirova (up to 52 kg), Maysa Pardayeva and Medina Orazniyazova (up to 57 kg), Yyldyz Muradova and Oguljan Ruslanova (up to 70 kg).

The tournament in Ulaanbaatar opens a new Olympic qualification cycle for the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. IJF World Tour ranking points are awarded based on performance: winning a Grand Slam awards 1000 points, second place 700, and third place 500.

The 18 strongest athletes in the world rankings in each weight category qualify for the Olympics, with each country limited to sending no more than one representative per category. Additional spots are allocated through continental quotas.
