The Ambassador of Turkmenistan took part in the celebrations on the occasion of Portugal Day

Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Portugal, Maksat Charyev, participated in state events marking Portugal Day, Camões Day, and the Day of Portuguese Communities, which took place on Terceira Island in the Azores. This was reported by the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

Within the framework of the official program, the diplomat participated in the welcoming ceremony of the diplomatic corps by the President of the Portuguese Republic, as well as in a ceremonial military ceremony with the participation of the country's armed forces.

During the ceremony, the Ambassador greeted Portuguese President António José Segura and conveyed congratulations on the national holiday on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as wishes for peace, well-being, and prosperity to the Portuguese people.

On the sidelines of the festivities, the Turkmen ambassador met with representatives of the diplomatic corps and Portuguese officials. The parties exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and discussed prospects for developing bilateral cooperation.

Maksat Charyev has served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the French Republic (with residence in Paris) since July 2022. In September of the same year, he was appointed Permanent Delegate of Turkmenistan to UNESCO. In February 2023, Charyev was simultaneously accredited as Ambassador to Portugal, and in October 2024, to the Principality of Monaco.
