In Japan, 23 people were injured as a result of Typhoon “Changmi”, TASS reports, citing the country's main fire department.
Casualties were reported in six prefectures in the southern, southwestern, and western parts of the country. The worst situation was in Okinawa Prefecture, where 17 people were injured, one of whom is in critical condition.
The typhoon is currently moving across the Pacific Ocean past Japan's main island of Honshu at a speed of 45 km/h.
The storm has caused widespread disruption to air travel: more than 760 domestic and over 90 international flights were canceled the day before. More than 700 thousand residents have been advised to evacuate. Authorities have warned of the risk of flooding and mudslides.
