The Ashgabat Russian Drama Theater performed within the framework of the Melikhovo Spring festival

The Ashgabat State Russian Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin presented the play "Chekhov's Vaudevilles" at the Podolsk Drama Theater as part of the 26th International Theater Festival "Melikhovo Spring," which runs from May 22 to 31, according to "Turkmenistan: Golden Age."

The play, directed by Bayram Garajaev, entered the theater's repertoire in 2024, and is based on three little-known plays by the author: "Ox Meadows," "The Bear," and "Anniversary."

Moreover, the image of the writer himself is present on stage. According to the director's design, the transitions between acts are filled with journalistic material from Chekhov's diaries and personal letters.

The Ashgabat Theatre was awarded a commemorative diploma of the festival.

The "Melikhovo Spring" festival is taking place at the A.P. Chekhov State Literary and Memorial Museum-Reserve "Melikhovo," one of the most picturesque and iconic places in the Moscow region. It was at this estate that the writer spent seven fruitful years and created over 40 of his celebrated works.

This year, the ten-day program included 26 performances based on Chekhov's works and about Chekhov, the source notes.
