Turkmenistan is negotiating with international companies to establish data centers for high-performance computing, including cryptocurrency. Energy Minister Annageldy Saparov announced this at the "White City Ashgabat" international conference.
"Turkmenistan is systematically integrating into global technological trends. On January 1, 2026, the Law "On Virtual Assets" came into force, creating a legal framework for legalizing cryptocurrency mining and crypto exchanges. Within the framework of this effort, preliminary negotiations and meetings are currently underway with specialized international companies on the creation of modern data centers for high-performance computing," he said.
The Minister also noted that, in the long term, the implementation of such projects will allow for the efficient use of surplus generated electricity and the integration of the national energy system into the digital economy.
Saparov called on interested foreign partners to engage in dialogue on the implementation of joint energy and technology projects in the Turkmen capital.
The international conference "White City Ashgabat" is taking place May 24-25 and is timed to coincide with the 145th anniversary of the Turkmen capital. Delegates from 55 countries are participating in the forum. The organizers are the Turkmen Energy Forum (TEF), together with the Ashgabat City Administration, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Industry and Construction, the Ministry of Construction, and the “Turkmenhimiya” State Concern.
