English football club “Aston Villa” won the UEFA Europa League, defeating German side “Freiburg” in the tournament final. The match took place at “Beşiktaş” stadium in Istanbul and ended 3-0.
The winning goals were scored by Youri Tielemans in the 41st minute, Emiliano Buendía in the 45th minute, and Morgan Rogers in the 58th.
This trophy was the Birmingham club's first in the UEFA Cup and Europa League, having never previously advanced beyond the quarter-finals. “Aston Villa” also won the European Cup and UEFA Super Cup, both in 1982.
“Aston Villa” head coach Unai Emery has won the Europa League five times, a record for any coach. He previously won the competition three times with “Sevilla” and once with “Villarreal”.
The final was “Freiburg's” debut European trophy. The German team's previous best European result was reaching the Europa League round of 16, which they reached in 2023 and 2024.
