Toyota releases Corolla Active Sport to celebrate the model's 60th anniversary

Toyota Motor has unveiled special Active Sport versions of the Corolla sedan and Corolla Touring wagon for the Japanese market, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the first-generation model. The anniversary will be officially celebrated on October 20, according to drom.ru.

The Active Sport version features aerodynamic bumper and sill trims, sport front seats with enhanced lateral support, a faux leather dashboard, aluminum pedals, and special floor mats. The interior features commemorative badging commemorating the Corolla's 60th anniversary. The car is equipped with 215/45 R17 tires on black multi-spoke alloy wheels.

The only technical difference from the base version is a stiffer suspension setup, which is available only for front-wheel drive models. The all-wheel drive Active Sport variant retains the standard suspension.

In the Japanese market, the Corolla and Corolla Touring are currently offered exclusively as a hybrid—a parallel hybrid system comprising a 1,8-liter 2ZR-FXE gasoline engine, a continuously variable transmission, and an electric motor, producing a combined output of 140 hp. Buyers have the choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive version is equipped with the E-Four system, which features a separate electric motor on the rear axle, which engages when starting off and driving at low speeds when traction is insufficient. The anniversary edition's price in Japan starts at 3 231 800 yen (approximately 1,5 million rubles).

The Toyota Corolla is in high demand in Turkmenistan and is one of the most popular models in the country. The car is widely used as a public taxi and remains a popular choice among professional drivers in Turkmen cities.
