NASA has released the first photographs of Earth in 53 years from a manned spacecraft en route to the Moon

NASA has released images of Earth taken from the Orion spacecraft during the Artemis 2 mission. Such images haven't been received from a manned lunar probe since 1972, reports vc.ru.

The mission launched on April 2, 2026, marking the first manned mission to the Moon in 53 years. The expedition will last ten days: the spacecraft will enter lunar orbit, flyby the moon, and return to Earth.

During the flight, the crew will test onboard systems and equipment planned for use in future lunar missions. The next manned mission, Artemis 4, is scheduled to land astronauts on the lunar surface in 2028.
