Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan took part in a regional seminar in Astana from July 8 to 11.
The seminar, which brought together representatives of customs administrations from eight countries in the region, was organized within the framework of the Central Asia and Caucasus Security Project (CCASP) of the World Customs Organization (WCO) with the support of the Government of Japan.
According to the Customs Service of Turkmenistan, the aim of the seminar is to strengthen cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus in the fight against the illegal movement of small arms and light weapons (SALW) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The participants discussed international standards, modern approaches to risk management, interdepartmental cooperation and exchange of experience. The participants presented their countries' national control systems, the source notes.
