The medals for the 2026 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, will be made from recycled metals obtained from waste from domestic production, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) website reports.
The awards will be produced by the Italian National Institute of Mint and Printing (IPZS). The medals will be cast in induction furnaces powered entirely by renewable energy sources, in eco-friendly packaging. They will be made from materials certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), with a minimum use of plastic.
The 2026 Olympic Games will be held in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, from February 6 to 22. The Paralympic Games will be held from March 6 to 15.
