The finance ministers of the European Union have officially approved Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone. The country will start using the single European currency from January 1, 2026, replacing the national lev with the euro, bfm.ru writes.
The exchange rate between the Bulgarian lev and the euro is fixed at 1,95583 levs per euro. Bulgaria will become the 21st member state of the eurozone, joining the world's largest currency union.
