Washington appointed new deputy ambassador to Moscow with experience in Turkmenistan

The US State Department has appointed experienced diplomat Douglas Dykehouse, who previously worked in a number of countries, including Turkmenistan, to the post of deputy ambassador to Russia, TASS reports.

As reported by the US Embassy in Moscow on its Telegram channel, the new deputy chief of mission has more than 25 years of experience in the diplomatic service. Before his appointment to the Russian capital, Dykehouse served as the first deputy director of the US State Department's Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations, as well as senior positions in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs.

The new deputy ambassador's background includes work in various regions of the world. Dykehouse has diplomatic experience in Afghanistan, Hungary, Mexico, Croatia and Turkmenistan. His deep knowledge of Russia and Eastern Europe is particularly noted.

The embassy emphasized the significance of Dykehouse's appointment at this particular moment, describing it as "an important period in relations between the United States and Russia."
