During the 17th Human Rights Dialogue between Turkmenistan and the European Union, negotiations were held on current issues of regional security with a special emphasis on the situation in Afghanistan, the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission in Brussels reported.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov held a bilateral meeting with the Director of the European External Action Service for Asia Paola Pampaloni. The central topic of the talks was the discussion of approaches to ensuring stability in the Afghan direction.
The Turkmen delegation presented a national position based on the fundamental principles of neutrality, good-neighborly relations and non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states. Ashgabat confirmed its commitment to initiatives aimed at restoring peace and ensuring sustainable development in Afghanistan, including providing humanitarian support and facilitating peace processes.
The meeting participants paid special attention to large-scale infrastructure initiatives. In particular, the prospects for the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan railway and the formation of new energy and transport corridors were discussed. These projects are considered key mechanisms for promoting the socio-economic stabilization of Afghanistan and strengthening regional integration.
Following the talks, the parties emphasized the importance of maintaining a constructive political dialogue and expressed their intention to continue cooperation on issues of mutual interest. In the context of modern international challenges, the meeting participants noted the priority of peaceful solutions, diplomatic mechanisms and sustainable partnership approaches in ensuring regional security.
