Six women have successfully flown into space on a Blue Origin rocket and returned safely to Earth. The crew included singer Katy Perry, presenter Gayle King, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' fiancée Lauren Sanchez, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Boe, scientist Amanda Nguyen and film producer Kerianne Flynn, “MIR 24” reports with reference to The Guardian.

The flight lasted only 11 minutes. The launch was made from a spaceport in West Texas, after which the ship reached an altitude of 100 kilometers above the Earth's surface. Passengers experienced a state of weightlessness for three minutes.

The official resource of the company owned by Bezos published a video showing Katy Perry and Lauren Sanchez in microgravity conditions. In addition, it became known that Katy Perry performed Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World in space.

After completing the space portion of the mission, the crew capsule separated from the main launch vehicle and landed successfully on the Texas plain, approximately 3 kilometers from the launch site.

The flight was a demonstration of the capabilities of the New Shepard rocket, which Bezos' team created specifically for space tourism. It was also the first all-female mission in more than 60 years since Valentina Tereshkova's legendary flight in 1963.
