The British miniseries “Adolescence” set a new record on the Netflix platform, collecting 66,3 million views in the first two weeks after its release. These figures surpassed all previous miniseries on the service, including last year’s hit “Fawn”. “Adolescence” debuted in early March and immediately attracted the attention of viewers, Film.ru reports with reference to Variety.
The series centers on a 13-year-old boy named Jamie, played by Owen Cooper, who is arrested on suspicion of murdering a classmate. Viewers, along with the boy's father (Stephen Graham), social services, and the police, try to figure out what happened. The series received high marks from critics for its tense atmosphere and strong acting.
One of the distinctive features of the project is the use of a single-shot shooting technique. The camera continuously follows the main characters, creating an immersive effect and not allowing the viewer to be distracted from what is happening on the screen.
