MrBeast acquired a banking app for teens

Beast Industries, owned by YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, aka MrBeast, has acquired Step, a mobile banking company aimed at teens and young adults, according to The Verge.

The deal came several months after the blogger announced the launch of a new YouTube channel dedicated to personal finance and investing. Donaldson's main channel has 466 million subscribers and is one of the most popular on the platform.

Step is a mobile bank without physical branches, operating on a model similar to Monzo and Revolut, but aimed specifically at a teenage audience. Its investors have previously included members of Generation Z, including bloggers Josh Richards and Charli D'Amelio, who has also appeared in MrBeast videos.

The acquisition of Step marks Beast Industries' first venture into financial services. The blogger's businesses also include a chain of virtual restaurants, the snack brand Feastables, and the upcoming mobile service Beast Mobile. In his videos, Donaldson often gives away large sums of money to participants.
