The Commonwealth Cup International Kyokushin Karate Championship was held in Navoi, Uzbekistan, from December 19 to 21, 2025. The Turkmenistan national team demonstrated successful results, winning prizes in various age categories.
Three representatives of Turkmenistan won gold medals. Annadurdy Gurbankylychov, a border service officer of Turkmenistan, won the 70 kg category in the 18+ age group. Meylis Pashakuliyev, captain of the Turkmenistan Kyokushin Karate Team, won the 80 kg category in the 18+ age group. Medina Danatarova, a student at School No. 88 in Ashgabat, took first place in the 60 kg category in the 16-17 age group.
Umid Shukurov won the silver medal, competing in the 16-17 age group in the 55 kg category.
About 480 athletes from 12 countries took part in the Commonwealth Cup international championship: Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Iran, Azerbaijan, Algeria, and Congo.
