The Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan announced the start of the admissions campaign for the Saparmyrat Turkmenbashy the Great Military Institute and specialized military schools for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Admission to the Military Institute
The Saparmurat Turkmenbashy the Great Military Institute admits Turkmen citizens with a secondary education on a competitive basis based on the results of entrance examinations. The duration of study is five years.
Male citizens under 24 years of age who have completed military service by conscription or who have volunteered to enlist are eligible to participate in the competition. Graduates of specialized military schools of the Ministry of Defense under 25 years of age and contract service members under 24 years of age are also eligible.
Applicants must submit their applications to their local military registration and enlistment office by May 1, 2026. Entrance exams include mathematics, physics, and the history of Turkmenistan, with additional requirements for physical fitness. All exams are conducted in the Turkmen language.
Accepted cadets are provided with dormitory accommodation, military uniforms, and educational materials, and also receive stipends in the manner and amounts established by the legislation of Turkmenistan.
Admission to specialized military schools
The Ministry of Defense's specialized military schools accept young men aged 14-15 who completed eighth grade in secondary schools in Turkmenistan in 2026. The course of study is four years.
Applications for admission will also be accepted until May 1, 2026, through local military commissariats. Applicants take tests in subjects within the eighth-grade curriculum of secondary schools, as well as a dictation in the Turkmen language. Entrance examinations are conducted in the Turkmen language.
Students at military schools are provided with dormitory accommodation, military uniforms, and educational materials. They are also provided with four meals a day. Their education includes academic and military-instructional classes, extracurricular activities, duty, physical training, and advanced basic military training.
