The Kyrgyz side plans to send a delegation to Turkmenistan to comprehensively study the experience of transitioning to a 12-year educational program and its implementation in their country, according to a statement from the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
The corresponding proposal was voiced during a meeting between Turkmenistan's Minister of Education, Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev, and Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Education, Dogdurkul Kendirbaev, which took place at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan as part of events dedicated to International Neutrality Day and the 30th anniversary of the country's permanent neutrality.
The Kyrgyz Minister of Education noted that her country transitioned to a 12-year educational program starting with the current academic year, while Turkmenistan introduced this system back in 2013. The Kyrgyz side is interested in studying the accumulated experience.
To develop bilateral cooperation, the parties also agreed to draft a Memorandum on Education, study the experience of preserving national heritage, and examine the work of pedagogical universities in Turkmenistan. Furthermore, plans are underway to jointly develop textbooks dedicated to the national treasures of the two countries.
The Turkmen side invited their Kyrgyz colleagues to participate in the annual International Mathematical Olympiad for schoolchildren, an international exhibition and scientific conference in October, as well as in the opening ceremony of the new complex of the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute, scheduled for September 1, 2026.
