Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and the UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Angel Moratinos, held a telephone conversation to discuss priority areas of cooperation and preparations for the International Forum on Peace and Trust, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The parties emphasized the importance of promoting intercultural and interreligious dialogue and strengthening mutual understanding and trust in international relations. It was noted that the meeting on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, held in September of this year, provided impetus for the further development of constructive cooperation.
During the conversation, Turkmenistan's proposals to hold an international forum, "Central Asia: A Space for Building a Peaceful Life," under the auspices of UNESCO and the Alliance of Civilizations, as well as a Global Summit on a Culture of Peace, Trust, and Mutual Respect, were discussed.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on the topics of the International Forum on Peace and Trust, which will be held on December 12 in Ashgabat.
