The Turkmenistan national team defeated the Chinese Taipei team in a home match of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifying tournament, which will be held in Saudi Arabia.
The group D match in Arkadag ended 3-1 in favor of the home team. Rakhman Muratberdyev (13th minute), Elman Tagayev (53), and Meylis Diniev (79), the latter's first goal for the Turkmenistan national team, scored for the winning team. Ange Samuel (45+2) scored for the visiting team.
Turkmenistan, with 12 points, is first in group D, ahead of Thailand on tiebreakers. Sri Lanka is third with 6 points, followed by Chinese Taipei, who have no points.
The Asian Cup berth will be determined in a match between Turkmenistan and Thailand in March 2026.
