The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan includes 7 forestry enterprises.
These include:
Ak Bugday forestry, established on February 19, 2018. It consists of 3 sections: Ak Bugday, Tejen and Serakhs. The forestry area is 1 336 038,60 hectares. Coniferous, shade-tolerant, fruit, desert and ornamental trees are grown here.
Baharden forestry was established in 1975. The total area of its forest fund is 439 500 hectares. Of these, 411 000 hectares are occupied by desert plants such as saxaul, shrubby saltwort (cheti), Richter/Paletsky saltwort (cherkez) and tree-like juzgun (gandym), and 28 500 hectares are mountain plants: Turkmen juniper, Turkmen maple (kerkav), hackberry (dagdan) and almond.
Bekreve forestry enterprise was founded on November 1, 1999. The total area is 328 011 hectares, the area of forest fund is 327 923,5 hectares, the area of irrigated arable land is 87,5 hectares. The forestry consists of 6 sites: Bekreve – 9,27 hectares, Yanbash – 15,7 hectares, Agyz - 17 hectares, Uch Birlishik – 3,9 hectares, Germav – 4,2 hectares, Chuli – 1,2 hectares.
The Balkan velayat forestry Administration was established on March 4, 1952. The total area is 448 954 hectares, the area of the forest fund is 448 812,51 hectares. Conifers, shade-tolerant, deciduous, fruit, desert plants and various types of flowers are grown in the forestry.
Dashoguz velayat forestry was established in 1963. The total area of the forestry is 446 937 hectares. Dashoguz velayat forestry consists of 6 sections: Akdepe, Andalyp, Boldumsaz, Shabat, Gorogly, Kunya-Urgench. Ornamental, fruit, desert plants, seasonal flowers are grown for annual planting in public places.
The forestry of Lebap velayat was established in 1929. Its total area is 2 953 541 hectares, and the area of the state forest fund is 639 887 hectares. The forestry mainly grows coniferous, deciduous, fruit and desert plants. The areas belonging to the forestry are located on the territory of 8 etraps.
The forestry of Mary velayat was formed on July 22, 1994. Its area is 639 532 hectares, of which: irrigated lands - 817 hectares, pistachio forests – 42 241 hectares, deserts – 596 474 hectares. The forestry consists of 3 sections: Akybay, Bayramali, Ata-Yurt. They grow seedlings of deciduous, shade-tolerant, fruit, desert and ornamental trees.
